Saws -- NOKOGIRI

Japanese saws are operated with a pulling motion, rather a than a pushing motion. The blade is made of a hammered steel plate, and the handle is wooden.

Saw blades are often sold without a handle.  The higher quality blades are not disposable, and can be resharpened with a file. Various types of saws are needed:   tenon-making, cross cut, rip-tooth--each serve a purpose.
